Antique, Vintage, Unusual, Beyond Repair

If your watch is 300 years old, chimes, plays music, records elapsed time, shows phases of the moon, has a special calendar mechanism, was designed to be very accurate, displays astronomical time, has an equation of solar time feature, uses an unusual escapement, is one of a kind, or is simply of great sentimental value, you are on the right page. Although we specialize in the repair of unusual watches, we realize that a "more common" watch may be very special to it's owner. Provenance, especially by our ancestors, is a very endearing quality.

Many times these very special watches are pronounced "beyond repair" by uninformed jewelers and watchmakers. Very seldom is a watch beyond repair. The expense of the Antique Watch Repair is another matter. If the watch has just been recovered from the Titanic, or subjected to the well intentioned mechanical exploits of a ten year old, it is probable that the work required would be extensive. Hopefully yours is in better condition. Only thorough examination can we uncover the extent of repairs required. When we receive your watch we will prepare an accurate estimate.

Occasionally it can be difficult to receive satisfactory service from the manufacturer of a modern high grade wrist watch. There has been a boom in the popularity of these watches. As a result it has been hard for the makers to keep up with the demand for repair. Some factory service centers refuse to work on the older models or those that have been modified with non factory parts.

Here at Masterpiece Watch, we have considerable experience with these watches. In most cases we can obtain genuine factory replacement parts. Precise testing and several adjustments are required to obtain the maximum performance from the watch. For this reason we cannot promise speed, only quality. We use genuine Rolex leak test equipment and "state of the art" electronic timing equipment. With the proper equipment and attention to detail we often obtain better than factory performance from these watches. We have improved the accuracy many Rolex, Patek Philippe and other high grade watches to the satisfaction of their owners.

Compiling a comprehensive list of all the types or brands of watches that we will accept for repair seems impossible. It is better for us to mention the things that we will not do. There is one miracle that cannot be performed. The inexpensive repair of a quality timepiece is hopeless. Many have attempted to work such magic for their customers and in the process have done substantial injustice. Much of our time is spent correcting inadequate and slipshod repair work. If you are looking for an inexpensive miracle, please look elsewhere. Our work is done to exacting standards which requires time, proper equipment and skill. We fully warrant all of our work. The result is satisfaction.

Large clocks are not accepted. If you are a clockmaker and need to have an escapement platform repaired we will consider working with you. Only small travel clocks and miniature clocks will be accepted.
