Recent production, high performance watches require thorough cleaning and inspection about every five years in order to assure top performance. We take no shortcuts. While we are not perfect, we strive for perfection and give our customers the best possible service. We do no rush jobs but will give you an accurate idea of what to expect. There are often hidden problems that must be found. The Chronoswiss mechanism on the left had a deteriorated bearing surface causing it to loose accuracy. This was due to the breakdown of lubrication. In the magnified view the stain of the broken down materials is visible. The mechanism must be completely disassembled, thoroughly cleaned and reassembled with appropriate lubrication. Any worn parts are replaced or repaired expertly. Several different lubricants as well as anti-spreading agents are applied exactly where they are needed. Then the watch is assembled, carefully adjusted, and thoroughly tested prior to delivery. Electronic diagnostic tools used to determine and fine tune the performance. Water resistant watches are leak tested with special equipment. Self winding watches are paced on wrist simulators to test self winding and motion sensitivity. This Audemars Piguet is a self winding wrist watch with a perpetual calendar mechanism. It has a wheel that rotates once a year and caries a planetary wheel that rotates a quarter turn each time the year wheel turns, thereby showing Feb 29 during the leap wear. It was carefully cleaned and lubricated by hand. The various gaskets were replaced to preserve the water resistance and it was leak tested with proper equipment.

The Breguet "Hora Mundi" shown is an elegant and sophisticated world time type watch. The ring with the Arabic numerals rotates once each day and indicates the hour in each of the cities. It has a high quality very accurate self winding mechanism deserving special care.
